This APMG accredited Change Management Practitioner certification course helps candidates effectively deal with change and more importantly, the impact of change which is a high priority for all organizations.

Change management is a specialist field that guides how we prepare, equip and support individuals to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcomes. While all changes are unique and all individuals are unique, decades of research shows there are actions we can take to influence people in their individual transitions. Change management provides a structured approach for supporting the individuals in your organization to move from their own current states to their own future states.

Dealing with change and more importantly, the impact of change is a high priority for all organizations. The Change Management Certification has been developed by APMG in partnership with the Change Management Institute (CMI), an independent, global professional association of change managers. Together they have developed a professional ‘body of knowledge’ for the discipline of change management. This body of knowledge now provides an independent benchmark for the professional knowledge expected of an effective change manager.

Following completion of this course, a successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable direction, be able to start applying the Change Management approaches and techniques to a real change initiative. Their individual Change Management expertise, complexity of the change initiative and the support provided for the use of Change Management approaches in their work environment will all be factors that impact what the Practitioner can achieve. Successful candidates will have fulfilled the knowledge requirements for Change Management Institute accreditation.

  • Understanding the factors that contribute to successful change
  • identify individual learning styles, formats and the learning cycle that supports successful change
  • Utilise the conscious competence learning model and the effects of the learning dip
  • Lead and manage change initiatives taking into account the learning curve
  • Identify change motivators and learn techniques to incentivize people through transitions
  • understand the systematic differences between people and the implications to change
  • Use metaphors as a technique to managing change
  • Understand and gauge organizational culture
  • Gain knowledge and utilize the three models of the change processes as well as the Kotter 8 step change process
  • Identify the key roles involved in change initiatives and programmes
  • use techniques to accurately define change and strategies to manage the different stakeholders throughout the change
  • identify and apply suitable communication and stakeholder engagement techniques
  • Identify and prepare the individuals and organization for the impact of change
  • Understand and prepare for change resistance

C-level leaders including VPs, Directors, Senior Managers. Program, Project and Business Managers. Business Change Managers (Change Agents), Business Analysts, Development and Planning Managers, Human Resource Staff and Organisational Change Development Practitioners. Consultants and Facilitators, individuals aspiring to become Change Managers or Agents. Those seeking their full APMG–International Change Management™ Certification which includes Foundation and Practitioner components.

Students wishing to attend this course and take the examination must fulfil the following requirements:

The Practitioner exam is a restricted open book (The Effective Change Manager’s Handbook is allowed for reference during the exam) exam which is 2.5 hours in duration. There are 80 questions based on a case-study scenario and a pass mark of 50% (40 marks out of 80) is required to receive the Change Management Practitioner Certification. This examination is administered and marked by APMG. To sit this exam it is a per-requisite that delegates have successfully passed the Change Management Foundation examination.

You will attain 21 professional development units (PDUs) for Project Managers with PMI. Successful candidates will have fulfilled the knowledge requirements for Change Management Institute accreditation.
